A US tourist has claimed a fake Uber driver stole $123,000 worth of cryptocurrency from him after he was spotted out in London.
An American tourist claimed he was kidnapped and drugged by a fake Uber driver in London and then had $123,000 worth of Bitcoin ($BTC) and $XRP stolen, local news agency MyLondon reported.
According to the report, an American tourist who was partying at a nightclub in London booked an Uber to return home but got into the car of a fake Uber driver instead of the one shown on the Uber app.
Afterwards, the American tourist claimed that the fake Uber driver gave him a cigarette after getting into the car, that the cigarette contained drugs, that he was drugged and kidnapped with the cigarette, and that he stole $BTC and $XRP from his account.
According to Turist, the fake Uber driver stole $72,000 worth of $XRP and $50,000 worth of Bitcoin from his crypto account.
The incident was reported to the police, but no one has been caught yet.
