Attackers targeted the Twitter account of Indian PM Narendra Modi. On Sunday, Dec. 12, they spread fake news that India has adopted BTC.
Also, the hackers wrote that the country acquired 500 coins to distribute to India’s residents.
The office of the PM of India informed Twitter about the hack, and the network secured the account instantly. Now, it is restored and misleading posts have been removed.
The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured.

In the brief period that the account was compromised, any Tweet shared must be ignored.
According to the local news provider, The Indian Express, the Twitter team informed that investigations showed that the account wasn't compromised due to any gap in Twitter's systems.”
The website also said that an investigation is being carried out to find out how the incident happened. Google will also provide details on the case.
Modi's account had been attacked before. In 2020, the attackers managed to get access, and changing the name into "John Wick", they sent messages, trying to get contributions in crypto.
Meanwhile, according to official announcements, India is considering establishing a stricter legal framework for crypto.
