On Saturday, the social network account belonging to Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin was subjected to an incident.
An unauthorized person used Buterin's X (Twitter) profile to spread a phishing link. Many users have fallen victim to this scheme, tricked by Buterin's fake endorsement, resulting in the loss of high-value NFTs.
Victims were lured with the promise of creating a special edition ConsenSys NFT. However, after confirming a transaction on the fraudulent site, they discovered their wallets were emptied.
According to Etherscan, the scammer's wallet currently contains over $390,000 worth of assets. At one point, the hacker even amassed over $691,000 in stolen assets, as indicated by a crypto investigator known as ZachXBT.

Among the hacker's ill-gotten gains is a significant piece of NFT history: the first Larva Labs Crypto Punk NFT, which was acquired by a member of the general public, as claimed by user X.
Currently, the highest bid for Crypto Punk on the NFT market, Blur, stands at 45 ETH, or approximately $73,500.
The post has since been removed, and Buterin has yet to make a new X post since the incident. The exact method by which the account was compromised remains unclear.
