Last week, Today’s Gazette reported that 10 million XRP was stolen from some unsuspecting Ripple’s XRP holders. There are series of information that revolve round the hack.
Few days ago, it was first discovered that ChangeNow has frozen around 500,000 XRP that was moved to the cryptocurrency exchange, out of the 23 million stolen from Gatehub.io.
The fund that was moved to ChangeNow, according to findings, came from the addresses suspected of being involved in the hack. The hackers, attempted exchanging the 500,000 XRP through the exchange to circumvent monitoring on its exchange platform.
Although, 2.5 million XRP was moved to ChangeNow, however, the exchange officially announced that it managed to seize 500,000 0f the 2.5 million XRP.
ChangeNow stopped the movement of the fund, meaning, the fund still lies with the exchange at the moment.
Close to A Million XRP from the Stolen GateHub Funds Land on OKEx
From Findings, through Forensics XRP, the independent body of XRP community members working to prevent and counter scams on the XRP Ledger, the unknown hackers have moved close to a million XRP to OKEx.
According to Forensics XRP, the hackers first moved 679,999 stolen XRP to OKEx in parts. Now, the exchange now has around 950,829 stolen XRP.
It is not clear if OKEx has frozen the fund, however, from what Today’s Gazette gathered, the exchange has not responded to messages from Forensics XRP.
Note that the incident was first made public on June 15, 2019. However, as of 5th of June, around 23,200,000 XRP was gathered to have been stolen from 80–90 XRP users with 13,100,000 moved into different exchanges and mixers.
As earlier revealed by Forensics XRP, notable exchanges in the crypto space were used to cash some funds out.
