According to local media, an indictment has been filed against Afek Zard in Israel for allegedly stealing 74.990.74 Dash (over $9 million) from his roommate.
According to data from CoinMarketCap, that equates to over 0.85% of the total circulating supply of Dash. According to News1, the victim, Alexei Yaromenko, was an early crypto investor who has been accumulating his cryptocurrency since 2013.
It’s believed Zarad transferred the funds to his own account through five separate transactions before moving the funds to different wallets in an attempt to erase any trace of their origin. Yaromenko reportedly introduced Zard to cryptocurrencies and taught him about trading before the theft took place. As per the indictment, Zard had a key to Yaromenko’s apartment and had access in Yaromenko’s absence.
The report notes that the coins were present in Yaromenko wallet until March 1. The prosecutors claim that the defendant used the alleged victim’s computer to steal the credentials to the crypto wallets.
