Fake XRP Ads Posted From CoinDCX Twitter Account

A Twitter account belonging to cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX has been hacked and used by exploiters to post fake XRP promotions and phishing links to scam followers of the exchange. https://twitter.com/CoinDCX_Cares/status/1572090356409180161?s=20&t=Ts9Q78blPcABAjsfQTen2g The official customer service account of CoinDCX responded to the hack by reporting the exploit and advising its customers not to follow any links or messages that came from the hacked account. The exchange claims that they are attempting to restore the account and will soon inform its followers. To make their scam appear authentic as of the time of writing, the cyber attackers have been retweeting the formal postings of Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse. In the process, they send scam URLs in reply to tweets on cryptocurrency. The hacker's technique poses a danger of financial loss to those who click on the links provided on the account. Since the official Twitter account presently has more than 230,000 followers, the losses might get worse if the problem is not fixed quickly.

In a similar attack earlier this month, false XRP token giveaways and phishing links to a fake Ripple event utilizing Garlinghouse's pictures as their thumbnails were posted on the Twitter account of one of the Big Four accountancy companies, PwC Venezuela. On the same day, a South Korean government-owned official YouTube channel was afflicted by an Elon Musk giveaway fraud. The account was hacked, renamed SpaceX Invest, and started posting fake videos of Musk discussing cryptocurrencies.
