The RCA Records Web3 initiative of Sony Music enters Greater China

It will develop domestic A&R and local-language musicians in the region with its roster of signees. According to Andrew Chan, CEO of Sony Music Greater China, it will be "the first in a succession of labels we aim to create in the region."

"With China dominating the Asian market in recorded music income growth by over 30% in 2021, there is plenty of potential for artists and music companies to expand," he added.

According to a press release, RCA Records Greater China will invest in artists wanting to increase their chances in the digital and Web3 domains, specifically "streaming, gaming, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, NFTs, and the Metaverse." Records by RCA Greater China released Jackson Wang's single "Jackson Wang" earlier this year and will assist in distributing the rest of his Chinese-language album. Wang has his label, Team Wang Records, and worked with 88rising and Warner Records to release and distribute music. He is a part of the Chinese hip-hop ensemble PANTHEPACK, alongside Karencici, J.Sheon, and ICE, in addition to GOT7. After leaving Avex Taiwan in 2014, Taiwanese pop artist A-Lin signed with Sony Music. Her latest album, 'Link,' was released in April, and she will kick off her globe tour later this month in Singapore.
