Galaxy Digital (GLXY) has acquired approximately 500 acres in McGregor, Texas, for a second artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) data centre campus, the company said on 28 Jul, expanding beyond its 1.6-gigawatt Helios flagship in West Texas.
Shares spiked as much as 4.4% to $23.10 on the news before paring the move, trading around $22 by 11:40UTC, near the pre-announcement level of $22.13.
The McGregor site is being developed under an agreement with the city and is expected to reach an initial 74 megawatts of capacity, with power due to begin in 2028 and potential to grow into a multi-hundred-megawatt campus by 2030. Unlike Helios, which is anchored by a lease with CoreWeave, no tenant has been named for the new site.
