Bitdeer Acquires 101 MW Power Plant to Expand Bitcoin Mining

Bitcoin mining firm Bitdeer purchased a 19-acre land and a license for a 101 megawatt (MW) permit near Fox Creek, Alberta, Canada. The firm spent a total of $21.7 million for this acquisition to become a fully integrated Bitcoin mining firm.

As per the official announcement, the Bitdeer acquired site has the potential to scale to 1 GW of power. This clearly indicates the energy sources, supportive regulatory environment convenient for business in Alberta.

The Bitcoin miner also obtained a license to build a 99 MW grid interconnection with Alberta Electric System Operator. It works in collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) in building the power plant. This power plant is estimated to start running by the end of next year.

Bitdeer Redefines Bitcoin Mining with Sustainability Plans

Bitdeer plans to achieve the lowest Bitcoin mining production costs that ever existed in the mining industry. A full vertical integration, low power costs, sustainability with less carbon footprint, and energy cost optimization are a few strategic benefits of Bitdeer’s new plans. Referring to its acquisition and future plans, the CSO of Bitdeer says,

“We are really excited about planting roots in Alberta, our first site in Canada. It marks a significant step in our strategy to become the first fully-vertically integrated Bitcoin miner, giving us unmatched control over costs, energy efficiency, and scalability.”

Bitdeer is one of the renowned Bitcoin mining companies that not only mines but also purchases BTC. In its latest announcement on X, Bitdeer mentioned that its BTC holdings increased to 787 BTC, with a new acquisition of 50 BTC.
