Blockchain-based VR platform Decentraland has announced the launch of a Metaverse Fashion Week, scheduled to take place between March 24th to 27th.

Fashion Shows In The Metaverse

Decentraland’s upcoming Metaverse Fashion Week, MVFW will consist of 'futuristic' daily runway shows featuring digital wearables, showcasing virtual runway shows including hosting afterparties. The four-day fashion extravaganza will have appearances by Vogue Arabia, Elie Saab, Guo Pei, Etro, Jacob & Co, Dolce & Gabbana, Selfridges, Tommy Hilfiger, Fewocious, Dundas, Cavalli, Paco Rabanne, Hogan, Franck Muller, Garrett Leight, Cavalli, and The Fabricant.

“Decentraland has been on the cutting edge of rare and in-demand digital fashion since the launch of avatar wearables in 2020. Since that time, creators have been pushing both the technical and stylistic limits of Decentraland wearables, and have created a booming economy with over $1 million in sales of avatar wearables last year,” Sam Hamilton, Decentraland Foundation’s creative director said in a statement

The event will be held on property owned by Tokens.com’s subsidiary, Metaverse Group, and leased to Decentraland as the host.

Big Fashion Houses in the Metaverse

Ralph Lauren, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana have already entered the metaverse. In fact, Dolce & Gabbana recently showcased their first NFT clothing line. In September, its Collezione Genesi clothing collection sold for nearly $6 million. Similarly, avatars in the metaverse realm have worn virtual outfits by both Gucci and Ralph Lauren through Zepeto, the largest virtual fashion app in Asia which currently has close to 250 million users.
