  • McDonald’s, the iconic restaurant chain, can now anytime enter the virtual space having registered for 10 trademarks in the virtual space. Interestingly, last week, the famous brand was making fun of crypto investors.
  • McDonald based on the application will be offering “downloadable multimedia files” for audio and video files, non-fungible tokens (NFT), and artworks.
  • The Golden Arches and Panera Bread, a bakery and cafe chain, also partnered in an attempt for the brand to dive into metaverse space.

The famous fast-food chain, McDonald’s is all set into the metaverse space with the registration for 10 trademarks in the digital space.

A trademark is a kind of intellectual property that includes a recognizable sign, design, or expression that recognizes a product from a particular source and differentiates it from others.

Josh Gerben, founder of Gerben Intellectual Property and Trademark attorney, in a tweet, revealed that McDonald on Feb 4 presented a trademark McDonald’s application including its plan to build a restaurant that will feature actual and virtual goods. It also plans to operate a virtual restaurant featuring home delivery.

The restaurant chain will offer “downloadable multimedia files” for audio and video files, artworks, and non-fungible tokens (NFT), based on the McDonald’s application.

McCafe Brand To Be Included In The Metaverse Trademark Application

The metaverse trademark application will also contain the McCafe brand. The brand will be offering entertainment services such as rendering online actual and virtual concerts and other virtual events.

There are high chances that McCafe will become the latest branded virtual destination to attend a sponsored concert.

McDonald’s wouldn’t be the only biggest virtual concert organizer. It faces high competition from other emerging virtual concert organizers such as Animal Concerts. These virtual concerts eliminate geographical barriers that stop fans from seeing their favorite performance and also hugely decrease the cost of touring.

The Golden Arches and Panera Bread Partners To Enter Into Metaverse

In another partnership, the Golden Arches and Panera Bread, bakery, and cafe chain come together to facilitate the brand’s entry into the metaverse ecosystem. On Feb 3, PANERA VERSE, a cafe, and restaurant chain filed another trademark application similar to McDonald’s application.

NFTs, virtual food and beverage items, downloadable content, and virtual facilities where users can gather, are all part of its plan.

In a statement to Forbes, Gerben predicts that within the next 12 months, every well-known brand will be making these fillings.

He further adds that firms can not just simply ignore an emerging technology if they wish to be the next blockbuster.

Around nine and a half months is the average time to review an application for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. However, Gerben doesn’t see a reason why McDonald’s or Panera Bread will not get approval for their trademarks.
