Roblox, the popular gaming platform, has released its latest report on virtual fashion trends within the metaverse. The report reveals that the intersection of real-life and virtual fashion continues to play a significant role in the platform's success, with a 38% increase in revenue reported in the past quarter.

The "2023 Digital Expression, Fashion & Beauty Trends Report" is based on surveys of 1,500 Gen Z members from the United States and the United Kingdom who are active on platforms like Roblox.

One of the key findings of the report is that virtual fashion's influence on Gen Z has grown over the past year. According to the survey, 84% of respondents acknowledged that their virtual avatar's style inspires their physical fashion choices to some extent.

Furthermore, 54% of respondents said they are extremely inspired by avatar fashion. Surprisingly, 56% of participants considered how they dress their avatars to be even more important than how they dress themselves.
"People are coming on to our platform — you know, 70 million people per day, all over the world — and they're connecting with people, their friends, and they're doing things together. And so it's really important to them, how they represent themselves."

The report also found that older members of Gen Z, ranging from 22 to 26 years old, shared similar views on the importance of virtual fashion. This suggests that the influence of virtual fashion transcends age groups within Gen Z.

Roblox's commitment to virtual fashion has led to collaborations with fashion houses and the introduction of features like Layered Clothing technology, which allows for hyper-realistic digital apparel. This year, Roblox also introduced "Roblox Limiteds," a feature that enables small runs of fashion avatar wearables, creating rarity and excitement, including through resale.

The report's findings counter the notion that the metaverse hype has waned in recent years.
Roblox reported strong financial performance in the third quarter, with $839.5 million in bookings and $713.2 million in revenue, marking gains of 20% and 38%, respectively.
The platform also saw a 20% increase in daily active users, reaching a total of 70.2 million gamers.

The report includes various statistics, such as a 38% increase in avatar updates and a 15% rise in digital fashion items and accessories purchased in the first three quarters of 2023. Additionally, 84% of respondents indicated that digital fashion is important to them, and 53% believe it has significantly grown over the past year.

Roblox's report demonstrates the growing importance of digital fashion and its impact on users' experiences in the metaverse. It highlights the platform's ability to provide a space for users, particularly Gen Z, to express themselves and experiment with their style, both virtually and in the real world.
