Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s chief legal officer, has linked the passage of the CLARITY Act to potential job creation and broader economic growth in the United States.

"A vote for Clarity is a vote for jobs and economic growth," Alderoty wrote on X.

This comes after the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA) published new research examining crypto’s contribution to the U.S. labor market.

The report, which was produced in partnership with Pragmatic Policy Group, estimates that the crypto industry supports 232,000 jobs across the country in 2026.

Of those, around 34,000 are direct positions at crypto companies such as Ripple and Coinbase. Another 75,000 jobs are supported by suppliers and contractors serving the industry, including law firms, cloud-computing providers and accounting businesses.

The NCA said the sector contributes more than $55 billion to the U.S. economy and generates approximately $31 billion in worker income.

California accounts for about 57,600 supported jobs. It is followed by New York with 53,800 and Texas with 26,500. Washington, North Carolina and Colorado account for 15,100, 9,500 and 5,800 jobs, respectively.

Crypto-linked employment also carries relatively high wages, according to the study. Average pay across the jobs covered by the report stands at roughly $133,000, compared with a national median wage of $64,000.

Clarity Act remains in limbo

The CLARITY Act remains unfinished despite making significant progress in Congress. The much-talked-about bill passed the House of Representatives by a 294-134 vote in July 2025 before moving to the Senate.

The Senate Banking Committee advanced the legislation in a bipartisan 15-9 vote in May. In July, Senate lawmakers released updated language.

Then, Majority Leader John Thune pushed the planned vote beyond the August recess. A cloture vote is now scheduled for Sept. 15.

White House officials continue to argue that the bill can still advance in September. For now, the odds are not encouraging for crypto bulls.
