According to a statement from the South Korean Ministry of Finance and Economy, the tax on crypto assets will come into effect as planned in January of next year. Moon Kyung-ho, head of the Income Tax Office at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, announced that South Korea’s National Tax Service is working on various technical and operational arrangements with the country’s five leading cryptocurrency platforms: Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit, and Gopax. Officials stated that coordination with the exchanges is ongoing to ensure the smooth implementation of the tax system.
