Speaking at the World Liberty Forum event held at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno said that the bill regarding the structure of the cryptocurrency market could pass “by the end of April.”

Highlighting the difficulty of the process, Moreno stated that the bill “took years of his life.”

Senator Moreno: “The Cryptocurrency Law, Clarity Act, Could Pass by the End of April”

Moreno then stated that the process needed to be accelerated, saying, “We have to finish this within the next 90 days.” Florida Senator Ashley Moody, who was standing beside him, jokingly added, “It’s on the Banking Committee. If they can’t finish the job, we can blame Bernie,” drawing laughter from the audience.

Moreno received the first applause of the day by rejecting banks’ requests for a change in language regarding stablecoin yields. Stating that he would not allow the reopening of regulations previously accepted under the GENIUS Act, Moreno said, “We are not going to go back and discuss a law that has already passed. I will not allow this in the digital assets space.”

Negotiations between banks and the crypto sector regarding stablecoin yields are reportedly showing limited progress. According to sources close to the matter, a planned new meeting at the White House may not take place. One invitee stated that a new meeting at this stage would be “merely for show” and that such a gathering was meaningless given the lack of concrete progress.
