Mario De Marco, Anderson Leme, and Rodrigo Quaresma, Federal Revenue agents, talked about the possibility of seizing bitcoin from travelers in Brazil. During a podcast, the agents clarified that they could confiscate digital assets from travelers only if there is a pending investigation involving these bitcoin. Leme stated that the current regulation did not mention bitcoin anywhere, and only referred to cash, remarking that it was not their task to supervise digital assets unless these were linked to a criminal investigation. De Marco agreed, declaring that these procedures should be directed to specific targets, but that if a cold wallet gets spotted in the wild, there should be a risk analysis before performing any search or seizure.
