Argentine President Javier Milei delivered a speech detailing his administration’s plans for its second year in office. The leader stated that he would slash 90% of national taxes, implement a currency competition scheme, and even introduce nuclear energy to the country.
Milei Year Two: Nuclear Energy, Tax Reduction, and Free Currency Circulation
Argentine President Javier Milei, a self-proclaimed “anarcho-capitalist,” has laid his administration’s plans for his second year in office. Milei, who found a devastated economy when coming into office, has achieved a surplus for the first time in 123 years, taking the reins of monetary issuance and leading it to zero.
The leader touched on several relevant subjects, including a tax reduction that would slash 90% of the national taxes for Argentines, taking a heavy burden off their wallets and returning the ability for states to establish their taxes. In the same way, Milei stated that in 2025, he would implement a free currency circulation program, meaning that Argentines would conduct business legally in the currency of their choice.
During his speech, Milei stated:
From now on, every Argentine will be able to buy, sell and invoice in dollars or in the currency they consider.
This would allow the circulation of bitcoin in Argentina and the payment of goods and services in BTC when agreed by both parties in a trade. Milei had referred to this possibility before, stating that besides bitcoin, Argentines could “also use other units such as WTI, BTU, and the one most appropriate for your business.”

In addition, Milei stated that the currency controls would be eliminated next year, allowing Argentines to purchase whatever quantities of U.S. dollars and other currencies they wish to. This would greatly energize the national economy, opening the doors for more international capital to enter the country, and benefiting the national industry.
Finally, he even mentioned that Argentina would deepen the so-called “Deep Chainsaw” program. and explore nuclear energy opportunities. Milei proposed devising a plan encompassing “the construction of new reactors as well as research into emerging technologies for small or modular reactors while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.”
