Steven Drawdy, 40, of Grovetown, Georgia, has been sentenced to 32 months in U.S. prison for wire fraud after defrauding over 40 customers in a cryptocurrency computer scheme. Drawdy, who participated in an online cryptocurrency discussion forum, received more than $1.1 million from victims between August 2021 and April 2022, promising to deliver cryptocurrency mining computers that were never provided. Instead, Drawdy pocketed the payments, often ceasing communication with the customers and occasionally offering partial refunds that required a “processing fee,” which he also never honored. In addition to his prison sentence, U.S. District Court Judge J. Randal Hall ordered Drawdy to pay over $1.1 million in restitution and to serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.
