Google has announced an update to its cryptocurrency advertising policy: this one applies to advertising of trusts. This update refers to financial products that allow investors to trade shares in trusts that hold large pools of digital currencies.

The new policy will go into effect on January 29, 2024 and demands from advertisers offering trust services in the US to meet requirements and receive approval from Google before they can advertise on their platform.

According to Google, the policy update is aimed at clarifying the advertising requirements for cryptocurrency trusts, which are different in nature from cryptocurrency exchanges or wallets. All changes will come in effect on January 29th.

Google said it expects all advertisers to comply with local laws in all regions targeted by their ads, and that this policy will apply to all accounts advertising these products worldwide. Google also added that advertisers who violate the policy will receive a warning at least seven days before any action is taken on the restrictions.

Earlier Google banned all cryptocurrency-related advertising in 2018, but later in 2019, allowed regulated cryptocurrency exchanges to advertise in the US and Japan.
