According to the head of the Thai government, Prayut Chan-o-cha, residents of his country need to stay away from digital currencies.

The prime minister watches with dismay how bitcoin is attracting the younger generation. The state needs to make every effort to prevent people from accessing such instruments.

The position of the head of the Thai government was expressed by Ratchada Tanadirek, representing the press center of the cabinet of ministers. The prime minister, she said, calls on all her compatriots to independently assess the risks before buying digital currencies. In addition, every potential investor must be ready to lose the money invested.

Chan-o-cha urges Thai people to choose only platforms for the purchase of digital assets, the activities of which are controlled by the supervisory authorities.

Recently, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand released data showing that nearly one and a half million crypto wallets are currently owned by Thais. Of these, approximately 311,000 addresses regularly participate in transactions.

The volume of trading in digital currencies in the country is approaching 200 million per day. About 50% of crypto traders are residents of the country under the age of 30, the regulator emphasized.
