Sam Bankman-Fried's legal team has raised concerns about an additional 3.7 million pages of discovery documents provided by the U.S. government.

This objection was formally communicated in a letter to Judge Lewis Kaplan on August 28.

Initially, the prosecution delivered 4 million pages of documents on August 24, followed by the recent release of 3.7 million pages. This accumulates to a total of 7.7 million pages available for the defense.

SBF’s lawyers view this new document influx as a breach of the agreed-upon discovery timeline and have requested court intervention to prevent further significant document releases, citing the upcoming trial.

They also stressed the importance of preventing the prosecution from introducing evidence from these new documents during the trial.

However, SBF’s defense team faces a challenge due to his detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center, which limits his ability to review evidence. He hasn’t accessed the hard drive sent to the facility.

In a prior court application, SBF’s legal team sought permission for him to work alongside his lawyers at the court facility on weekdays to actively contribute to his defense, underlining the unique value of his involvement.

Despite the request made on August 18, the court has yet to grant this arrangement, prompting SBF’s legal team to emphasize his direct participation’s necessity.
As the trial approaches in six weeks, SBF maintains his not-guilty plea, intending to argue that his actions were in good faith and based on legal advice.
