Opera and Decrypt Team Up to ‘Bring the Next Billion Users’ to Web3

Decrypt is teaming up with Opera to bring its in-depth coverage of Web3, cryptocurrency and emerging tech to the web browser’s hundreds of millions of users.

The partnership will see Decrypt’s explainers, interviews, and breaking stories distributed through Opera News, Opera Mini and Opera for Android, enabling readers to discover trustworthy Web3 journalism directly inside Opera, localized and tailored to their region and interests.

“This collaboration will enable Decrypt to reach the broadest audience possible, advancing our educational mission to make Web3 accessible for all and bringing the next billion users to blockchain and crypto,” Decrypt co-founder and COO Ilan Hazan said.

Opera’s partnership with Decrypt is a “natural step forward” in advancing awareness and adoption of Web3 technologies, a spokesperson for Opera said, adding that they share “the same values of accessibility, trust, and storytelling.”

Decrypt has long focused on the core mission of demystifying the decentralized web and making Web3 accessible, building atop four key principles:

1. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

Emerging technology is complicated; our goal is clarity.

1. Focus on storytelling.

Tell stories that offer a compelling narrative, increase readers’ understanding of complex topics, and above all else help them make better decisions.

1. Tell the truth.

Be clear-eyed and skeptical, celebrate what works and inform readers about scams, frauds, and bad technology.

1. Incorporate Web3 and AI.

Practice what we preach and use both Web3 and AI technologies as part of our daily work.

“Decrypt’s partnership with Opera reflects our commitment to our core values,” Hazan said. “It helps us to pursue our mission of informing and educating the widest possible audience about crypto, while Opera has a long history of building tools for the decentralized internet such as its MiniPay stablecoin wallet.”

“This partnership is more than a tactical move,” said a spokesperson for Opera. “It reflects Opera’s broader commitment to Web3.
