Ubisoft Enters Web3 With Launch of ‘Champions Tactics’ RPG
According to the announcement shared with Bitcoin.com News, Ubisoft’s new Web3 game will introduce players to a tactical role-playing game (RPG) set in a dark fantasy world. Players will assemble teams of digital champions to engage in player-vs-player (PvP) battles. The game will feature a collection of 75,000 champions, each with unique traits, allowing for customizable gameplay.
The champions, which are digital collectibles, are central to the experience and can be enhanced and crafted using a feature called the Forge, which allows players to create new champions by combining abilities. “At Ubisoft Strategic Innovation Lab, our goal is to be pathfinders in delivering innovative player experiences,” Nicolas Pouard, the VP of the Ubisoft Lab remarked.
This marks Ubisoft’s first foray into Web3, following a year of development in collaboration with Oasys and double jump.tokyo. While the game introduces blockchain elements, Ubisoft emphasizes that the focus remains on delivering immersive gameplay, downplaying the technical aspects of Web3 integration. According to the team, the release follows the successful launch of a champion mint, which saw significant community interest and involvement during the game’s alpha and beta testing phases.
