More details about the upcoming crypto gaming handheld console SuiPlay0x1 have been revealed by Playtron and Mysten Labs, the creators of the Sui blockchain. With this, pre-orders for the device have opened with the first to pay receiving an NFT reward.

The SuiPlay0x1 aims to rival Valve’s Steam Deck as a powerful handheld gaming device that can run PC games as well as crypto games—a key difference between the devices. Currently priced at $599 (plus shipping and tax), the SuiPlay0x1 falls in between the pricing of the 512GB and 1TB OLED Steam Decks at $549 and $649 respectively.

It has been confirmed that the crypto gaming device will come with 512GB of SSD storage, packed with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U CPU and AMD Ryzen 780M graphics card.

According to a release, the device will have 1920 x 1200 resolution on a 7-inch IPS no-bezel screen. It will measure 26.45 cm x 10.55 cm x 2.15 cm, with a weight of 677g. This will be shipped running the Linux-based operating system Playtron, with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 capabilities.

Pre-orders for the device are now live, with gamers able to pay in SUI, ETH, or SOL. The first 1,000 people to pre-order the device will receive a soul-bound NFT which will provide special rewards and perks down the line.

“The SuiPlay0x1 will showcase that games seamlessly incorporating blockchain technology look and feel no different than traditional ‘web2’ games,” Adeniyi Abiodun, chief product officer and co-founder of Mysten Labs, said in a release. “It'll show gamers all over the world that player ownership, thanks to blockchain tech, can provide a deeper and more engaging gaming experience without disrupting their fun."

This comes ahead of the crypto console’s official release next year. While no official date has been set, the recent press release states that delivery of pre-orders will begin in 2025.

The SuiPlay0x1 is the latest in a line of crypto-native handheld devices, such as last year’s Solana Saga mobile phone, which was slated as a “moonshot” for its creators. Since then, other handheld devices have been announced, such as the BitBoy One, which looks to bring crypto gaming to a Game Boy-style device.
