Long-running NFT trading card game Gods Unchained has finally gone mobile. Immutable Games announced Wednesday it has launched the fantasy-based tactical game on iOS and Android devices worldwide.
An early access version of Gods Unchained Mobile is now available on the App Store and Google Play Store. It provides a card combat experience on smartphones and tablets, turning the PC and Mac game into one that you can play pretty much anywhere.
“Your mobile is probably one of your most important devices, which is why it was important for us to give players the freedom to choose where they want to play, whenever they want,” said Executive Producer Daniel Paez in a statement. “For anyone who has ever wanted to play a quick game on the go, Gods Unchained Mobile now makes it possible."
The mobile app includes Immutable Passport wallet integration, ranked and casual play, and a deck-building tool. Plans for a mobile version of Gods Unchained were publicly announced last year, following a closed testing period on Android.
Gods Unchained originally launched in 2018 on Ethereum, and later was migrated to Immutable’s own Immutable X scaling network, which enables cheaper and faster transactions. The game has generated nearly $350 million worth of NFT sales to date, according to data from CryptoSlam.
Amid a recent wave of expansion, Gods Unchained hit the Epic Games Store, a popular PC gaming marketplace—but then was promptly removed. That’s because the ESRB ratings board gave the game an “Adults Only” rating due to its play-to-earn crypto elements, and Epic Games blocked such games from its storefront.
However, following an investigation from Decrypt’s GG in December, Gods Unchained returned to the store after Epic Games modified its policies to allow such “AO” games—but only in instances where it received the rating due to the ESRB’s policies towards crypto games.
