Immutable, known for its pioneering work with Web3 games, has teamed up with Ubisoft's Strategic Innovation Lab, according to a recent blog post. The goal is to effortlessly introduce cryptocurrencies into games, making digital transactions an integral part of the gaming market. Nicolas POUARD, vice president of Ubisoft's Strategic Innovation Lab and a key player in blockchain projects, sees Immutable's technology as an ideal foundation for developers looking to implement cryptographic functionality into their games, ensuring a seamless and delightful gaming experience.
Immutable recently unveiled a testnet for its Immutable zkEVM, a zero-knowledge-rollup (ZK-rollup) gaming solution. ZK-rollups gained attention in 2023 as a powerful scaling solution for Ethereum Layer 2, with the ability to handle large volumes of cost-effective transactions critical for decentralized applications and services.
To date, Immutable has introduced two ZK-based scaling solutions. Their notable developments are Immutable zkEVM, running on Ethereum Layer 2 via Polygon, and Immutable X, created in collaboration with ZK technology innovators StarkWare. The Immutable platform provides game developers with the necessary tools to develop games on the Ethereum blockchain, promising a new standard for gaming infrastructure.
