Tokenized GOOGL Drops Nearly 12% Alongside After-Hours Stock Selloff

Tokenized Alphabet exposure sold off sharply after the U.S. regular stock-market close on Oct. 28, with Robinhood's GOOGL token falling nearly 12% peak to trough in a Uniswap pool. A separate Alphabet xStock pool on Solana also dropped, giving onchain traders access to the selloff outside regular exchange hours.

GeckoTerminal's minute-by-minute pool data put the Robinhood token's high at $325.54 in the 4:01 p.m. ET minute and its subsequent low at $286.96 in the 5:34 p.m. minute—a decline of approximately 11.9%, calculated from the provider's dollar-denominated candles. The pool pairs GOOGL with the $USDG stablecoin on Robinhood Chain.

The repricing was not confined to tokens. Alphabet's underlying Class A shares reached an after-hours low of $287.33 at 5:30 p.m. ET, according to Nasdaq, close to the token pool's trough. For traders, the onchain market offered another place to transact—not evidence by itself that blockchain trading discovered a price unavailable in traditional markets.

Trading Continued on Both Sides

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams wrote at 11:33 p.m. ET: “GOOGL just dropped 10% onchain across the board,” adding, “Uniswap and tokenized stocks are where price discovery is happening.”

Nasdaq's regular session ends at 4 p.m. ET, but its after-hours session runs until 8 p.m. The sharp initial token decline occurred during that extended session. Nasdaq reported approximately 25.2 million shares traded after hours, with a final price of $292.50.

Robinhood's asset metadata also lists GOOGL's underlying equity as tradable overnight. Its underlying-share quote endpoint showed a $293.11 bid and $293.22 ask at 11:38 p.m. ET, with no trading halt. Those are quotes, not completed trades, but they further distinguish a closed regular session from an unavailable underlying market.

Volume Behind the Move

The Uniswap GOOGL/$USDG pool recorded approximately $603,000 of volume in the five-minute candle beginning at 4 p.m. ET. That was more than a dust-sized price print. A later GeckoTerminal pool snapshot showed approximately $585,000 in reserves. That reserve value is not a measurement of executable liquidity at the quoted price or historical depth during the plunge.

The move extended beyond Uniswap and Robinhood's wrapper. A Raydium GOOGLx/USDC pool on Solana opened its 4 p.m. ET candle at $325.14 and reached $288.20 in the 5:25 p.m. candle. It recorded approximately $374,000 of volume in the first five minutes. These two pools establish selling across distinct token products and venues, rather than a census of every tokenized Alphabet market.

The distinction between a token and the share remains consequential. Robinhood describes its stock tokens as debt securities providing economic exposure, without legal or beneficial rights against the underlying issuer. As The Defiant previously reported, the rights and trading mechanisms behind tokenized stocks differ across providers. Matching prices alone cannot establish which venue led the move.

The lower onchain price persisted into late evening: GeckoTerminal recorded a GOOGL/$USDG pool trade at $294.77 at 11:35 p.m. ET, approximately 9.3% below Alphabet's $324.89 regular-session close.
