Citi has expanded its Citi Token Services to Japan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), adding new markets to its blockchain-based payment and liquidity infrastructure. Citi is a global financial services company serving businesses and financial institutions.

The service uses tokenized deposits and a private blockchain to move funds between Citi accounts almost instantly. It is designed to support cross-border payments, liquidity management, and collateral transfers without being limited by banking hours or time zones. In Japan, Citi Token Services will support USD transactions. In the UAE, the service will handle both USD and EUR transactions.

The expansion adds Japan and the UAE to Citi Token Services, which is also live in the United States, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom. The expansion is part of Citi’s wider work on digital assets and 24/7 payment infrastructure, including connections with other tokenized financial networks.
