Boston-based Fidelity Investments, the world’s third-largest investment manager with nearly $6 trillion in assets under management (AUA) has launched new Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) that allow clients to invest directly in crypto. The development was revealed on or around April 2nd via the company’s website. “You can currently trade bitcoin, ethereum [ether], and litecoin in a Fidelity Crypto IRA,” the site says. IRAs allow investors to save for retirement on a tax-free or tax-deferred basis. Most firms offer traditional assets to their IRA clients while retirement accounts that allow direct ownership of crypto are few and far between.
