Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao is richest man in Asia, Bloomberg data shows

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao is now the richest man in Asia with an estimated net worth of US$96 billion — without his crypto holdings taken into account, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

• Bloomberg Billionaires Index ranks the world’s 500 richest people, where the 44-year-old founder of Binance would be ranked as the 11th richest man in the world. 

• Rival exchanges chiefs FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried and Coinbase’s Brian Armstrong and also made the list. 

• Binance is currently the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, accounting for over 16% of crypto transactions across more than 550 exchanges over the past 24 hours. 

• Binance has also come under intense regulatory scrutiny around the world, with Pakistani investigators becoming the latest to launch a probe into an alleged scam worth US$100 million that involved apps that linked to the exchange.
