A16z: Only 10% of Crypto Owners Are Actively Using It

A recent report by A16zcrypto titled “Estimating the Number of Real Crypto Users” found that only up to 60 million current holders were actively using their cryptocurrency each month. The numbers represent only 10% of the estimated 617 million global holders, a number released by Crypto.com in June. The report assesses that “this differential suggests there is a huge opportunity to convert existing crypto owners — who are mostly passive holders — into active users.” A16zcrypto believes that as crypto experiences become more compelling, more users will be drawn to onchain experiences, increasing this number in the future.
