According to the announcement, Immutable plans to use the new capital to expand its operations to ramp up marketing for Gods Unchained and launch the Immutable platform.

“[The Immutable platform is] essentially an operating system for decentralized applications (dapps),” states the Immutable team. “We’ll be allowing third-party developers to utilize the technology we’re creating to power our own games while offering an array of applications to provide a ‘noob-proof’ experience for users to jump in and interact with this new digital asset class.”

Gods Unchained is currently one of the most popular blockchain games, combining elements of both NFT collectibles and competitive gaming. The developers see esports as a major driver of adoption and are currently raising $1.6 million for the first Gods Unchained World Championship.

Immutable joins a growing list of blockchain projects and startups looking to simplify the on-ramp to decentralized gaming applications, both for developers and gamers. As we recently reported, Blockade Games, the startup behind upcoming blockchain RPG Neon District, has made a move to greatly expand its ecosystem with the introduction of its Blockchain Game Developer Platform.
