SEC Investigates Yuga Labs For Unregistered Offerings: Report
To expedite the resolution of public complaints, the police department of the Indian city of Firozabad has announced plans to use the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain to register complaints.
The system will implement the modular OxPolygon blockchain, with the department citing benefits such as a tamper-proof system that does not interfere with logged complaints, according to a statement released by Firozabad Police on October 10.
Once a complaint has been registered under the system, the blockchain will generate a unique code for the case. The police station closest to the location of the complaint will then have a unique QR code that directs reports to the complaint form.
All complaints will be stored on the blockchain.
Immediately following the filing of a complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) will be drafted if the police determine that an official investigation is necessary. However, filed complaints will be recorded on the blockchain, but inclusion on the FIR is not assured.
According to Ashish Tiwari of the Indian Police Service, using emerging technologies such as blockchain, a free, city-specific pilot portal, policecomplaintonblockchain.in, has been launched. As the data recorded on the blockchain is immutable and transparent, the complaints registered on it cannot be altered.
Ankur Rakhi Sinha, founder of AirChains, a Web3 software development platform, established the complaints system alongside the police district’s smart cell.
Eliminating corruption
Sandeep Nailwal, the co-founder of Polygon, stated that the new system would likely eradicate corruption cases and play a role in addressing rape cases.
“This is very close to my heart.” Nailwal tweeted on October 12: “We grow up hearing about so many such cases wherein, due to some corruption in a local police department, victims (mostly of rapes) are not even able to register complaints, or the complaints being manipulated.”
It is important to note that Polygon has received numerous administrative use cases in India. For instance, Maharastra’s government has announced using the Polygon blockchain to issue verifiable caste certificates.
