Crypto ATMs installations across the globe have increased by 70% in 2021

Cryptocurrency comes of age, and in 2021, more than 10,000 new crypto ATMs have been installed across the globe. The United States leads the list of nations with the most crypto ATMs. Crypto ATM installations have increased by 70% globally in 2021.

The number of crypto ATMs has surged by 71.73%

Cryptocurrency has been in existence for some time now, and it took almost a decade for it to gain acceptance and reach the present levels. As the cryptocurrency acceptance levels surge, so are the numbers of ATMs being installed across the globe. According to the latest data, there has been a steep surge in the installation of crypto ATMs this year. The number of crypto ATMs has surged from 13,993 on January 1 to 24,030 at the time of reporting. It represents a massive surge of 71.73%.

In 20207,620 new machines were installed, and the total global count rose to 13,993 ATMs representing a growth of 119.56%. This year saw the installation of 10,037 ATMs. It totals to about 52.3 ATMs per day.

The U.S. leads the nations with the most crypto ATMs, and data reveals that 48 crypto ATMs are being installed every day. Today the total number of crypto ATMs in the U.S. stood at 16,835, representing a growth of 177% in just a year.

Crypto ATMs can be accessed across 75 countries and are powered by 42 producers. According to Coin ATM Radar’s data on the manufacturers of ATMs, the lion’s share of the 40.9% market is captured by Genesis Coin. General Bytes owns around 24% of the market, while the remaining 35% share among other players, including BitAccess, Coinsource, and Bitstop.

Meanwhile, the largest Bitcoin ATM operator Bitcoin Depot has said that it will be expanding into Circle K locations in the United States and Canada. Already 700 of its Bitcoin ATMs are in operation in Circle K convenience stores in 30 U.S. states as part of the new partnership. Bitcoin Depot said that the latest expansion would provide the unbanked communities access to financial tools and attract more people to the crypto space.

Crypto ATMs will give the underprivileged access to financial tools

Bitcoin Depot’s director of product Alona Lubovnaya talked to the media and said that Bitcoin adoption had increased manifold among wealth managers, but what about people who do not have access to financial tools? ATMs being located in Circle K’s will serve such people and give them access to financial tools. 

Bitcoin Depot claims to have more than 3,500 crypto ATMs in operation across the U.S. and Canada. The crypto ATMs give consumers access to trade in 30 different types of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), and Ether (ETH).
