Largest Online Retail Shop in Switzerland Adopts Bitcoin, XRP, and Streams of Other Altcoins, Plans To Extend To Germany

Digitec Galaxus, the largest online retail shop in Switzerland with possible extension to Germany has adopted Bitcoin (BTC), and streams of altcoins like Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin SV (BSV), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Binance Coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC), TRON (TRX), OmiseGo (OMG), and NEO (NEO).

The adoption, no doubt is the beginning of crypto acceptance across the country considering the popularity of the firm, even beyond Switzerland.

Now, customers of Digitec Galaxus can now pay for any good on the platform using cryptocurrency. According to an article by Watson, around 2.7 million goods on the platform can now be bought using Bitcoin (BTC) and the above mentioned altcoins.

With the market leader taking a step like this, there is no doubting that other competitors will follow suit in the long run.

Before this time, the authority of Switzerland has made it possible for people to buy SBB tickets using Bitcoin. This was an outcome the 2017 Federal Railways’ collaboration with Sweepay, a Zug-based company.

The bitcoin payment option adopted by Digitec Galaxus came from a team of software engineers at regarded as Team Specter, and the adoption of Bitcoin came as a part of a pilot project in conjunction with a with Switzerland e-payment specialist Datatrans AG.

The digital asset transaction are to be processed using Coinify, a Danish-based fintech company with tentacles across the world.
