Vitalik Buterin Makes Special Statements on Ethereum’s 10th Anniversary – “Never, Ever…”

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin made retrospective assessments and shared his hopes for the next decade during a live broadcast on the platform's 10th anniversary.

Buterin stated that the founding purpose of Ethereum was to create an open space where developers around the world could freely build applications.

In his speech, Buterin said, “The essence of ETH is that it is a global, secure, and permissionless platform where general-purpose applications can be developed,” and added that in order to maintain this structure, the network must be censorship-resistant, attack-resistant, and most importantly, never go offline.

Recalling that Ethereum has undergone 16 major updates in the last 10 years, processed billions of transactions, and never shut down for a single minute during this period, Buterin stated that this stability must never be disrupted in order for the platform to continue its mission of protecting digital rights and supporting human progress.

Buterin stated that many innovations, such as the development of NFTs, that were surprising even to him, have sprouted in the Ethereum ecosystem, adding, “In the future, we want people to implement ideas we can't even imagine on this system.”
