Wietse Wind confirmed the development of XIGN application during the Bitrue community meetup on May 26, 2019. According to Wind, XIGN will not be a wallet, but it will be a banking application that can be used to send, receive, and store various funds using the XRP Ledger.

In a recent Twitter update, Wind confirmed that the beta version of the app will be launched by the end of 2019. He tweeted:

We’ll release it when it’s ready. We rather spend a few more months and get it right. But we’re definitely looking at a beta release this “year.”

He further confirmed that the app will be suitable for XRP balances or transactions and it also allows the user to mark any XRPL issued IOUs as a base currency. Moreover, the users will have the freedom of selecting any balance [IOU or XRP or Euro] while accepting and sending funds. This transaction, as confirmed by Wind would “auto-bridge using XRP on the fly”.

He also confirmed, however, that XRP would be the native asset along with having additional services like “prepaid ILP wallet”.

Wind added during the event:

“… We are not building a crypto wallet that holds crypto, we are building a banking app that holds your Euros or Dollars, or XRP or whatever currency… You can spend it as you can spend your Euros… “

XRP Center summarized Wind’s tweets:
