- MoneyGram integrated its network with Solana so any developer can access 500,000 physical points of sale around the world.
- CEO Anthony Soohoo stated that the integration allows stablecoins to be converted into physical cash at hundreds of thousands of retail locations.
- The company also launched its own stablecoin, MGUSD, partnering with Bridge, Crossmint, Fireblocks, M0 and Stellar as infrastructure.
MoneyGram, a leading international remittance company, announced an integration with Solana that opens its network of 500,000 physical points of sale to any developer building on that blockchain.
CEO Anthony Soohoo explained it in a recent Bloomberg Crypto interview: “Anyone building on Solana can use our off-ramp, the ability to deposit or withdraw cash at any of our 500,000 retail locations. We are trying to connect the real world with the digital world“.
MoneyGram CEO Anthony Soohoo on connecting cash to Solana:
"The biggest announcement we've made with Solana is about access, providing all their developers the ability to build on our MoneyGram network."

The integration allows users to convert their stablecoins into physical cash at those locations. Soohoo was direct in defining the nature of the announcement: “I would say the most important thing we are doing with Solana is about access“. The executive added that the framework is designed for greater participation and that any developer looking to innovate in the payments space will now have the physical infrastructure to support their digital applications.
The ultimate goal, according to Soohoo, is to allow other developers to build on MoneyGram’s network. Developer tools continue to roll out gradually.

MoneyGram Bets on the Blockchain Ecosystem
The company’s journey in the blockchain industry goes back a long way. Following a failed deal with Ripple, MoneyGram partnered in 2021 with the Stellar Development Foundation to connect the Stellar blockchain with its payments infrastructure. More recently, in June of this year, it launched MGUSD, its own dollar-denominated stablecoin, through infrastructure partners including Bridge, Crossmint, Fireblocks, M0 and Stellar.
MoneyGram Ramps went live on Solana in early August, and Rift became the first wallet on that network to integrate the service. The company is not reacting to stablecoin pressure — it is incorporating stablecoins as a central part of its business model. What was once perceived as an existential threat to certain companies has become, in this case, the cornerstone of its expansion.
