AllDomains, a blockchain-based domain infrastructure provider, has announced the launch of .com domains on the Solana blockchain, extending its hybrid domain model after the rollout of .id on Solana in 2024. The move brings the most widely used Web2 top-level domain into a Web3-compatible environment while preserving full compatibility with existing internet infrastructure.
The on-chain .com domains remain ICANN-rooted and globally resolvable, meaning websites, DNS settings, hosting, and email continue to function without changes. At the same time, ownership is represented on-chain, enabling transferability, programmability, and transparent records secured by Solana’s network.
For domain holders, the integration adds an on-chain ownership layer without disrupting existing use. Domains can be transferred more quickly, ownership can be verified publicly, and participation in global digital marketplaces becomes more efficient. Beyond trading, on-chain .com domains can be used as portable digital identifiers for authentication, payments, and application access.
