BNB Chain saw a busy and measurable week, marked by technical upgrades, rising onchain activity, and deeper links between traditional finance and blockchain systems. The article reviews the most important weekly developments, explains what changed, and outlines how these updates affect users, builders, and institutions.

Several updates landed at once. Bitget expanded tokenized traditional assets on BNB Chain. BlackRock’s BUIDL fund continued its onchain rollout. Core network performance improved through protocol upgrades. Onchain data also showed steady usage across both BSC and opBNB.

Bitget Expand Tokenized Stocks On BNB Chain

On Jan. 8, Bitget listed 98 tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds through Ondo Finance on BNB Chain. These assets are available through Bitget’s Universal Exchange, also known as the UEX model.

Users can trade exposure to equities, bonds, and commodities alongside crypto assets on a single platform, without moving funds across systems.

These products are not shares held through a brokerage account. They are tokenized representations that track the price of underlying assets. Settlement happens in USDT, using crypto-native infrastructure.

What Assets Are Included In The New Listings?

The 98 tokenized products cover several market segments:

  • Short-duration U.S. Treasury ETFs such as SGOV
  • Large U.S. equities across technology, energy, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing
  • International growth stocks including BILI, PDD, and GRAB
  • Commodity-linked ETFs such as GLD, USO, COPX, and REMX
  • Broad market index trackers like VTI
  • Leveraged and inverse ETFs such as TQQQ and SQQQ

This range allows traders to manage risk, hedge exposure, or take directional positions without leaving a crypto platform.

How Do Tokenized Stocks Work On Bitget?

Tokenized stocks mirror the price of traditional securities using blockchain-based tokens. On Bitget, they trade like crypto pairs but follow real-world market prices.

Key characteristics include:

  • USDT-settled trading pairs
  • Onchain issuance through Ondo Finance
  • Price tracking tied to U.S. stocks or ETFs
  • Availability alongside crypto, derivatives, and forex products

Tokenized stocks do not provide voting rights or dividends. They offer price exposure only. By using BNB Chain, settlement is faster and transaction costs are lower compared with traditional brokerage systems.

Why Does BlackRock’s BUIDL Matter For BNB Chain?

BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, known as BUIDL, is now live on BNB Chain. It is the world’s largest tokenized real-world asset fund and recently became the first tokenized Treasury product to distribute $100 million in lifetime dividends.

BUIDL is powered by Securitize and Wormhole and now operates on BNB Chain as an additional share class.

BUIDL on BNB Chain

Last November, BUIDL expanded access by launching a new share class on BNB Chain. Qualified investors can gain exposure to tokenized U.S. dollar yields on a high-performance network.

Second, BUIDL will be accepted as collateral on Binance. This allows institutions and advanced traders to deploy capital while maintaining exposure to tokenized Treasuries.

What Are Super Instructions And Why Do They Matter?

On Jan. 14, BNB Chain Developers announced that Super Instructions are now live on BNB Smart Chain through BEP-610.

Super Instructions improve Ethereum Virtual Machine execution by replacing high-frequency opcode sequences with single custom instructions. Contract bytecode is pre-processed so repeated instruction patterns execute atomically.

This change improves execution efficiency without altering consensus rules or requiring a hard fork.

How Do Super Instructions Improve Performance?

The motivation is technical. On BSC mainnet, repeated compiler-generated instruction patterns dominate gas usage.

By fusing these patterns, the network can:

  • Reduce opcode dispatch overhead
  • Minimize stack shuffling
  • Improve throughput without protocol changes

Security safeguards include differential fuzzing against standard EVM behavior, unused opcode ranges, and bounded background optimization to avoid denial-of-service risks.

Backward compatibility is preserved. Bytecode remains unchanged, and nodes can opt in without affecting state consistency.

What Is The Optimized MIR Interpreter?

BNB Chain is also developing a major engine upgrade called the Optimized MIR Interpreter. It targets a 8 to 27 percent improvement in smart contract execution.

The current EVM uses a stack-based interpreter. This design spends significant time managing data structures instead of executing logic.

The new engine improves this in two ways.

How Does The New Engine Work?

First, it builds a Control Flow Graph. Execution paths are mapped in advance instead of processing instructions one by one.

Second, it uses registers instead of deep stacks. Data is accessed directly by location.

When a contract is executed for the first time, the engine analyzes it deeply. The optimized path is cached, allowing faster execution on future calls. Popular contracts benefit the most from this approach.

What Do The Latest BNB Chain Network Metrics Show?

BNB Chain shared its weekly data snapshot covering Jan. 1 to Jan. 7.

Key metrics include:

  • Average Daily Active Users on BSC: 2,485,950
  • Average Daily Active Users on opBNB: 1,805,364
  • Total Transactions on BSC: 98,613,140
  • Total Transactions on opBNB: 22,122,189
  • Total Trading Volume: $43.8 billion
  • Total Value Locked: $10.6 billion

These figures show steady usage across both execution layers, with trading activity remaining strong.

What Was The Fermi Hard Fork And Why Does It Matter?

The Fermi hard forkwent live on Jan. 14 at block height 75,140,593. It reduced block time on BNB Smart Chain from 0.75 seconds to 0.45 seconds.

Fermi is part of BNB Chain’s 2026 technology roadmap and completes the Short Block Interval Roadmap.

What Changed After The Fermi Upgrade?

The most visible change is block production speed. BNB Smart Chain now produces roughly two to three blocks per second.

Key improvements include:

  • Shorter block intervals for faster confirmations
  • Improved validator coordination under load
  • More reliable fast finality
  • Better block propagation
  • Improved performance for real-time applications

These changes aim to keep transaction confirmation predictable as network usage grows.

What Is The USD1 Trading Competition?

On Jan. 14, BNB Chain announced a USD1 trading competition in collaboration with World Liberty Fi, Four Meme, and Aster DEX.

The program deploys $250,000 worth of USD1 as onchain liquidity support under BNB Chain’s $100 million Liquidity Incentive Program.

Funding breakdown includes:

  • $100,000 USD1 from BNB Chain
  • $150,000 USD1 from World Liberty Fi

Eligible trading pairs include projects created on Four Meme using USD1 or those with active USD1 liquidity pools. No application is required. All qualifying pairs are included automatically.

Evaluation is based on price movement, trading volume, and market participation. The program runs from Jan. 15 to Jan. 25, 2026.

Conclusion

This week’s BNB Chain updates show steady progress across infrastructure, trading, and real-world asset integration. Tokenized stocks expanded access to traditional markets. BlackRock’s BUIDL continued its onchain rollout. Core upgrades like Super Instructions and the Fermi hard fork improved execution speed and reliability. Network data confirmed consistent usage across BSC and opBNB.

Together, these updates highlight BNB Chain’s current capabilities as a high-throughput settlement layer for trading, tokenized assets, and decentralized applications.
