Cassette has released v0.2.0 of its decentralized storage application, introducing several new features aimed at enhancing user experience and expanding functionality. Built on NeoFS, Cassette provides a Dropbox-like solution with blockchain-native capabilities.
Feature updates
The most significant update is the integration of NeoNS, allowing users to assign human-readable names to storage containers. In NeoFS, a container functions like a folder in traditional storage, serving as a storage block for organizing files. Containers can now be publicly shared using either their ID or NeoNS name, which are accessible through a built-in NeoFS browser in Cassette.
Cassette has also introduced the Cassette URI scheme (formatted as cstt://
), enabling users to access files directly within the application using Cassette URLs. For example, entering cstt://getcassette.neo/logo.png
in a browser will open the file within Cassette.
Additionally, Cassette now offers improved web hosting capabilities on NeoFS. The new directory upload feature maintains the original file and folder structure using the FilePath
attribute. To showcase this capability, the Cassette team provided an example of a Wikipedia page hosted on NeoFS:

History
Cassette initially launched as GreenFinch in late 2021 and earned the Best Middleware Project award during the Neo Polaris Launchpad hackathon. In 2022, GreenFinch became the first successful GrantShares proposal, receiving 825 NEO to develop the GreenFinch API. The team released the first version of its application in 2023 for Windows and Mac operating systems on Neo N3 MainNet.
In June 2024, GreenFinch rebranded to Cassette alongside a complete rewrite of its underlying codebase. The overhaul was intended to simplify future development, enabling faster iteration and feature updates.
