Today, Gnosis made headlines by successfully implementing the Dencun hard fork on its Gnosis Chain, a Layer-1 blockchain fully compatible with Ethereum's Virtual Machine (EVM).

Notably, this deployment occurred two days prior to the scheduled upgrade on the Ethereum network. The move is poised to revolutionize data efficiency and affordability within the Gnosis ecosystem, paving the way for the development of cost-effective Layer-2 solutions similar to those on Ethereum.
What sets this upgrade apart is that Gnosis Chain becomes only the second blockchain, alongside Ethereum, to integrate Dencun. This underscores Gnosis' commitment to closely aligning with Ethereum's advancements since its inception in 2021, progressively bridging the gap between the two platforms.
Martin Koppelman, Co-Founder of Gnosis, expressed enthusiasm about the upgrade, stating:
"The Dencun upgrade isn't just about improving scalability and functionality for Gnosis; it's about driving broader blockchain adoption. As more people engage with and build upon blockchain technology, we anticipate a surge in innovation."
Martin Koppelman, Co-Founder of Gnosis
Koppelman also invited stakeholders to explore these innovations at DappCon, Gnosis' flagship event scheduled for May 21st to 23rd in Berlin.
Philippe Schommers, Head of Infrastructure at Gnosis, highlighted the significance of synchronized hard forks with Ethereum, showcasing the strength and expertise of Gnosis' team. He emphasized that the Dencun implementation on Gnosis Chain would not only lower costs but also facilitate the scalability of Layer-2 solutions, potentially attracting more participants to the crypto space.
Advancing Decentralized Ledger Technology
In addition to its collaboration with Ethereum, Gnosis has played a pivotal role in advancing decentralized ledger technology. The Gnosis beacon chain genesis occurred in December 2020, closely following Ethereum's timeline. Subsequent upgrades, such as the Merge and Shapella, were swiftly integrated into Gnosis Chain within four months of their deployment on Ethereum.
Looking ahead, Gnosis is gearing up for the Electra/Prague hard fork in alignment with Ethereum's roadmap. Moreover, the team is actively implementing the Shutterized Gnosis Chain update on Chiado, Gnosis' testnet network, aimed at bolstering front-running protection and reinforcing anti-censorship measures.
With a steadfast commitment to decentralization and community ownership, Gnosis Chain recently surpassed 200,000 validators, solidifying its position as the world's second-largest validator community.
This achievement underscores Gnosis' dedication to fostering a resilient and neutral blockchain ecosystem.
To commemorate the hard fork, Gnosis organized a call today, featuring representatives from Nethermind, Geth, EthStaker, and Shutter Network. The event also boasted prominent figures like Joseph Lubin, CEO of ConsenSys, alongside Gnosis' Martin Koppelman and Igor Mandrigin, Co-Founder and CTO of Gateway, for a discussion on Layer-2 solutions on Gnosis Chain.
