Ethereum Name Service and GoDaddy have recently joined forces to connect the DNS protocol deployed by traditional websites with the blockchain-based names without additional costs or technical expertise, allowing users to connect their domain names to ENS.

The partnership is expected to offer more than 20 million GoDaddy’s users access to ENS’s features such as receiving crypto payments by linking their domain (e.g. a. com) to their ENS-compatible crypto wallet.
“Crypto payments have never been easier to receive,” said GoDaddy.
Nick Johnson, ENS’s founder, emphasised the collaboration’s goal of streamlining user interactions with web domains: “By pairing up ENS names and GoDaddy domains, we will streamline the way users interact with web domains, blending the familiarity of the DNS with the potential of blockchain technology.”
Addressing previous obstacles such as high gas fees, the collaboration introduces new smart contracts to facilitate cost-free linking of DNS to ENS domains, enhancing the transition process.
ENS continues its efforts to integrate with the traditional web, including ongoing initiatives like supporting (.box) domains that function akin to standard internet domains.
