Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have demonstrated several times in recent months that they are willing to invest in the crypto world, especially in the development of the web3 industry.

Today the decentralized game platform Immutable announced a strategic partnership with Amazon to accelerate the onboarding of game developers into the web3 and promote digital ownership of objects to millions of players worldwide.

Amazon’s role will be critical in this context because within its AWS cloud we find the presence of gaming giants such as Ubisoft, Warner Bros. Games, Riot Games and Epic Games.

This is a very important collaboration because it aims to stimulate mass adoption of games on blockchain by leveraging the reliability, luster and scalability of the traditional web giant.

Let’s look at all the details together below

Summary

Beyond Google: Amazon’s collaboration with Immutable to accelerate web3 game development

Immutable, a web3 game development platform, announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership as Amazon Web Services (AWS) to promote a number of initiatives and contribute to the development of the blockchain gaming industry.

More concretely, the goal is to bring gaming experience houses into the web3 context while promoting the concept of digital ownership of gaming objects to millions of gamers worldwide.

This will be possible thanks to the various names orbiting the Amazon universe such as Ubisoft, Warner Bros. Games, Riot Games and Epic Games.

Before going into the details of the partnership, the efforts of another web multinational, namely Google Cloud, which in parallel with Amazon is working hard to better integrate its services within the web3 world, are also worth noting.

In fact, a few days ago Google collaborated with the web3Auth service provider in order to enable simplified access within decentralized platforms.

Returning to Amazon and Immutable, the participation between the two parties consists of joining the ISV Accelerate program (sponsored by AWS itself), which is a co-sales program for organizations that provide executable software solutions through AWS.

In this way, Immutable’s direct experience in the web3 sector can be leveraged with a wider audience, thus helping new potential customers develop their own game in this particular context.

Developers of decentralized dApps can also sign up for AWS Activate, which consists of a program that provides startups with AWS credits, technical support, training and external resources to expand their infrastructure within Amazon’s cloud while simultaneously using Immutable’s tools and technical expertise.

Magmabyte, a web3 game producer, has already recently joined this initiative by taking its work to the next level.

Through these services, Immutable can count on an increase in its scalability by being able to handle 10 times the amount of games associated with it, not to mention the luster that its association with the Amazon brand gives it.

On the technical front, the concept of serverless technology by giants such as Amazon Web Services and Google cloud, allows a high number of transactions to be carried out with the lowest possible latency and negligible cost.

Immutable plans to continue on this path by building together with AWS, and who knows. perhaps in the future with Google as well, bringing its offerings to millions of potential customers and hundreds of different customers.

This trend could grow tremendously given the growth prospects of the Web3 industry, which within the next couple of years will have about 100 million players.Jason Suen, commercial director of Immutable, commented on the partnership with Amazon as follows:

“Immutable’s core mission is to accelerate and expand web3 game development by offering studios the most comprehensive, powerful, efficient, and user-friendly blockchain platform available. By joining AWS ISV Accelerate and AWS Activate programs, we’re able to provide our vast network of game developers with a turnkey solution for quickly building and scaling web3 games. Combined with AWS’s world-leading and secure infrastructure, culture of innovation, and expert resources, we are able to scale globally in the most efficient way possible. This is a pivotal moment that will shape the future of game development.”

All of Google Cloud’s recent participations in the crypto world

As mentioned earlier, Google Cloud is also very active in developing and promoting the web3 industry. This is evidenced by a whole series of initiatives that the web giant has taken charge of over the past year.

Although in fact there is not the California company’s hand in the partnership between Amazon and Immutable, we can nonetheless mention 3 recent participations that give a good idea of Google’s objective and the resources it is investing in order to gain a slice from this ever-growing world.

First and foremost, a few days ago a collaboration was announced with the service provider for decentralized platforms webAuth, which has made it possible to simplify access to blockchain-based applications.

In fact, together the two companies have developed a system that allows end users to generate a public-private key pair without having to install a wallet and save their own access keys, but simply by logging in via Google login, SMS, email, OTPs or biometric IDs.

In addition, Google’s contribution also relates to the speed and efficiency of its services, with an estimated latency of less than 1.5 seconds as well as improving the security factor, which thanks to the Kubernetes Engine (GKE) offers a defense system against DDoS.

Other significant initiatives implemented by Google Cloud include integration as a validator within the L1 Celo cryptographic network in August this year.

During 2022, Google created its own team dedicated to the exploration of digital assets, with a specific interest in the Web3 space. It also unveiled the Blockchain Node Engine, which is a specialized service designed to host the nodes of blockchain networks.

After a year of work and testing, the company decided to take the plunge by joining Celo’s network of validators such as Deutsche Telekom and impactMarket. This practice allows the blockchain network in question to manage its transactions in a more efficient and scalable way.

At the same time, for Google, this move was key in gaining deeper involvement in the blockchain space, opening up new opportunities to explore and contribute to the growing ecosystem of decentralized technologies.

Finally, it is worth noting the partnership Google Cloud itself launched in July this year with Voltage, a company specializing in Bitcoin and Lightning Network.

The partnership offers a way to expand the providers and hosting locations of the decentralized service, offering Voltage’s own customers the ability to create Bitcoin nodes on LN via Google Cloud, in different locations around the world.

Specifically, the role of the multinational web company is about the capacity and reliability of the services offered, with the ability to meet a range of demands simultaneously.

In addition, the presence of a strong brand such as Google’s contributes more luster to the web3 industry itself, being able to count on one of the most dominant cloud leaders in 2023.

Consider that, a few months later, we can count a number of 79 nodes hosted by Google Cloud on the Lightning Network with a total of 1230 BTC routed on-chain.

Note how Amazon in this area is more dominant than the competitor by being able to count on 544 nodes with a total of 1,830 BTC on-chain.
