Celo Foundation and Google Cloud have joined forces to propel projects in Celo’s blockchain ecosystem and encourage the early adoption of Google Cloud services.
According to a blog post on April 4, the latest partnership empowers developers working on Celo to access credits for Google Cloud and Firebase usage, heightening Celo’s mobile-first infrastructure and decentralized applications.
Firebase, Google’s mobile and web application development platform, equips developers with tools and services like authentication, messaging, real-time databases, and cloud storage for app building.
Google Cloud will guide and mentor the Celo Foundation’s Founders in Residence program and participate in the virtual Celo Camp accelerator program that supports startups aiming for sustainable development. Moreover, the two organizations aim to co-host workshops and events targeting Web3 sustainability and innovation.
“Our partnership with Google Cloud will help developers and Web3 founders building on the Celo blockchain build and scale their applications on the industry’s cleanest cloud.”
Xochitl Cazador, Head of Ecosystem Growth at Celo Foundation
Celo is a blockchain platform that uses proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus and has made a remarkable achievement of becoming carbon negative. It is well-regarded in the Web3 community as a frontrunner in regenerative finance (ReFi), a wide-ranging concept emphasizing sustainability in finance. The platform boasts over 1,000 projects from a diverse range of over 150 countries.
Meanwhile, Google has been dabbling in blockchain technology for years, collaborating with blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis in 2019 to enhance data analytics and security solutions for crypto companies and with blockchain firm Digital Asset in 2018 to verify and track the supply chain of goods.
CELO’s price has risen 10.8% in the past 24 hours and 18.8% over the past week, according to CoinMarketCap data.
