Arcadia₿, a Mexican company that describes itself as a Bitcoin treasury firm, is preparing to launch a bitcoin custody service built on shared control of private keys.

CriptoNoticias reported on October 28th 2026 that the service, called CustoBia, is scheduled to start in January 2027 and will be offered to individuals and corporate clients.

Keys Held in Several Places

Under the model described, client bitcoin is held in multisignature vaults, where a transaction needs approval from several independent private keys. Those keys are held by different institutions in different jurisdictions, including Arcadia₿ in Mexico and AnchorWatch Trust Company, which the report describes as a qualified custodian licensed in Nevada.

According to the company, no single company or country can move a client’s Bitcoin on its own. Arcadia₿ also says the multi-institutional approach removes the single points of failure common in traditional custody.

Optional Insurance

Eligible users will be able to buy an insurance policy through AnchorWatch, backed by Lloyd’s of London syndicates rated A+. The report does not give pricing, fees, or the amount of bitcoin the service is expected to hold. No financial figures were disclosed, and the only numbers in the announcement are the launch timing and the insurer’s rating.

Who Is Arcadia₿

Arcadia₿ was formerly known as KapitalEX and was founded in 2017. It offers bitcoin-focused products to retail clients and small and medium-sized businesses, including brokerage, bitcoin-collateralized loans, debit cards, and payment solutions.

CriptoNoticias had reported in August 2025 that the company had announced a bitcoin treasury strategy and plans to list on the Mexican stock exchange, without giving a ticker or exchange details at the time.

A Treasury Model Adapted to Mexico

That earlier report said the strategy was modeled on Japan’s Metaplanet and on Strategy in the United States, adapted to Mexico’s regulatory context.

Boyd Cohen, a professor at EGADE Business School who was described as an executive at the company, argued at the time that capital gains from selling shares of a public company such as Arcadia₿ face a maximum tax of 10%, compared with up to 35% for direct bitcoin investments. He also said: “Our thesis is that this will work in any market with a central bank and a money printer.”

Why Custody Matters

Custody is one of the central questions for companies and individuals who hold bitcoin directly. A setup in which keys are split across institutions in different countries is meant to reduce the risk that a single failure, whether technical, legal or criminal, would put client funds at risk.

The CustoBia announcement does not say how many keys are required to approve a transaction or how recovery would work if one institution became unavailable, and those details were not disclosed.

Next Steps for Arcadia

With the launch planned for January 2027, further information on fees, onboarding and the insurance terms is expected closer to the start date. Until then, the announcement is a statement of intent by Arcadia₿ and its partner AnchorWatch, not a live product.

Mexican bitcoin treasury firm Arcadia₿ announced CustoBia, a multi-institution bitcoin custody service planned for January 2027. Client keys will be split across institutions in different jurisdictions, including Arcadia₿ and Nevada-licensed AnchorWatch, so no single party can move funds. Optional insurance backed by A+ rated Lloyd’s syndicates will be available. Fees and assets were not disclosed.
