Meet the New Bitcoin Treasury Firm That Already Plans to Sell BTC

A Different Kind of Strategy

On Friday, Supercycle Finance announced the launch of a bitcoin treasury model under the guidance of co-founder and CEO Michael Terpin, a serial entrepreneur, investor, and author of the book, “Bitcoin Supercycle.”

“Supercycle Finance is designed to outperform bitcoin by buying at the low end of the cycle and on dips and [selling] at the top,” Terpin told Bitcoin.com News.

Following Terpin’s “four seasons” philosophy espoused in the book, Supercycle Finance plans to buy bitcoin when the market is down, sell holdings when prices are high, and hold onto U.S. Treasuries and other interest-bearing assets in between. Strategy hasn’t avoided sales entirely, but for the most part has consistently added BTC to its coffers for years.

“Most treasury companies only focus on accumulating bitcoin. We are building one that adjusts its exposure through the cycle,” said Terpin, in a statement. “This is a disciplined approach that is designed to outperform holding bitcoin and never selling.”

Terpin told Bitcoin.com News that a proposed Reg A offering would enable the firm to raise up to $75 million—”the majority of which will go into buying bitcoin.” He added that the firm’s approach could “support much higher amounts,” however.

Supercycle’s treasury model announcement came alongside word that the company has acquired Presearch, a privacy-centric and crypto-fueled search platform, which shut down services in July. The deal includes Presearch’s peer-to-peer compute platform Hypavolt, and is part of what Terpin said is a broader plan to acquire distressed tokenized projects.

“The Presearch acquisition is the first in a series of buying distressed and undervalued token ecosystems and relaunching them as the operating business component of Supercycle Finance,” he explained. “We plan to be the Bending Spoons of crypto.”
