Bitcoin is once again pressing toward the upper end of its recent range, with $BTC trading around $86,000–$86,300 after a strong recovery from September lows. The daily chart remains structurally bullish: price sits comfortably above its major moving averages, while the latest advance has returned $BTC to the late-September high near $87,000.

Multiple levels to consider

However, the road toward $90,000 contains several concentrated resistance zones. Perpetual futures order data shows three particularly large sell orders around $86,900, $87,700 and $88,000, making these the immediate levels to watch.

The first barrier at $86,900 is especially important because it overlaps with recent price action. Bitcoin previously pushed toward roughly $87,000 before sellers forced it back into the $83,000–$85,000 region. A decisive move through $86,900 would therefore represent both a technical breakout and absorption of a significant derivatives sell wall.

Next levels to consider

Next comes $87,700. There is relatively little distance between the first and second levels, meaning a breakout above $86,900 could quickly expose $BTC to another wave of supply. Failure here would keep the cryptocurrency trapped below its recent local ceiling, while sustained trading above it would significantly narrow the remaining gap to $90,000.

The third level is $88,000, where the largest visible sell order of the three sits. This is also a psychologically significant round-number resistance. Clearing $88,000 would leave $BTC only about 2.3% away from $90,000, with the next visible large sell-side liquidity concentrations appearing closer to $90,900 and above.

Momentum currently supports another attempt. The daily RSI has recovered toward the upper part of its neutral range without yet showing the extreme readings associated with a heavily overbought market. Bitcoin also remains well above its short- and medium-term moving averages, preserving the broader upward structure.

Still, these sell walls should not automatically be treated as guaranteed resistance: large perpetual orders can move or disappear. The more useful confirmation would be price actually trading through $86,900, $87,700 and $88,000 while maintaining the breakout afterward. Until that happens, $90,000 remains close geographically but separated from $BTC by a dense cluster of sell-side liquidity.
