Bitcoin rose to $81,098.53, up 4.8% over the past 24 hours, pushing past resistance near the 50-week moving average that analysts had been watching closely in recent sessions.

A Level Bitcoin Had Struggled to Clear

The move follows a period of uncertainty. As recently as a day earlier, Bitcoin’s weekly chart showed signs of rejection near $80,000, with one trader describing the pattern as weak resistance at a critical level. Thursday’s rally pushed price above that zone, though the weekly candle had not yet closed at the time of writing, meaning confirmation of the breakout was still pending.

A “Busted Pattern” on the Daily Chart

On the daily chart, Bitcoin had briefly broken out of its recent trading range before slipping back inside it, a pattern known among traders as a “busted pattern.” Such moves can signal strong underlying momentum, but the analyst warned that they only confirm a trend shift if price goes on to clear resistance and reach the pattern’s upside target, in this case near $90,000.

Next Level to Watch

The analyst is now looking at the $82,000 to $83,000 range as the next test. A clean break above that zone would support the case for continued gains. But if Bitcoin stalls there instead, it could form a bearish divergence, a signal that a high price is not being matched by strong buying momentum, raising the risk of a sharper pullback, potentially back toward $70,000.

Altcoins Showing Similar Patterns

Some altcoins are showing similar chart patterns, which analysts have compared to early-stage setups seen in prior bull market cycles. Still, there is a warning that near-term price action remains uncertain, with the possibility of either a continued rally or a short-term reversal still very much in play.
