The Bhutanese government continues to exhibit noteworthy activity in its Bitcoin holdings. According to information shared by the onchain data platform Arkham Intelligence, the country recently transferred approximately 250 Bitcoin to a newly created wallet. This transfer is estimated to have a market value of around $18 million.

This transaction is seen as a continuation of outflows from state-linked wallets throughout the year. According to the data, Bhutan withdrew approximately $233.75 million worth of Bitcoin from its known addresses in 2026.

The country’s current $BTC holdings have fallen to approximately 3,774 units, which is worth around $272.5 million at current prices.

Bhutan’s Bitcoin reserves peaked at approximately 13,000 $BTC in October 2024. Looking back from that level, it’s noteworthy that the country’s crypto assets have decreased by over 70%. However, it’s not yet clear whether the recent transfer was intended for sale.

The country’s crypto assets are managed by Druk Holding and Investments, the state investment arm. Druk has played an active role in Bhutan’s Bitcoin mining and accumulation strategy in recent years.

Experts note that large transfers from state-linked wallets are often interpreted as a sell signal, but it’s difficult to draw a definitive conclusion without an official statement.

On the other hand, while the price of Bitcoin was trading above $72,000 at the time of writing, the asset is still approximately 43% below its peak level reached in October 2025.
